Would you believe us if we said our community is currently in motion to achieve the goal of creating a Complete Neighborhood?
A complete neighborhood is an area where residents have safe and convenient access to goods and services they need on a daily or regular basis. This includes a range of housing options, grocery stores, public open spaces, recreational facilities, and access to transit accessible to all.
As an organization founded 30 years ago to revitalize an abandoned, semi-urban area, we do our best to partner with organizations who desire to support and uplift our communities. Neighborhoods can be developed with little thought given to the quality of life if it’s residents, but we believe communities are created when everyone works together to create a dynamic area with resources. Collaboration is central to this work, and is enhanced by diverse relationships supported by a mixed array of resources. Learn who we partner with that makes our community one step closer to a complete neighborhood.
Mid City Gras
A complete neighborhood begins with its’ residents, which is why Mid City Gras holds so much value to us and all of Mid City. They are a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enrich the heart of Baton Rouge through hosting charity events and revitalizing our community by giving it a voice that brings diverse communities closer together. Mid City Gras was able to bring together both sides of Mid City- North and South- on North Blvd. by reaching out to neighborhoods across the city and making everyone feel welcome .
By residents strategically and intentionally branding their own community they took back ownership of their neighborhood and created a place that stands on their own beliefs and values.
Mid City Gras allows our organization to stay connected to the heartbeat of Mid City – its people. Our purpose is to always provide the residents and the community with resources that meets their direct needs.

Louisiana House Corporation
Having affordable housing is imperative for a complete neighborhood to fully function and every resident deserves an opportunity to obtain safe, affordable, and energy-efficient housing. LHC distributes federal and state funds through programs designed to assist nonprofit organizations in providing resources for residents to become homebuyers.
We know that homeownership allows individuals to build wealth, access education and employment, achieve gains in physical and mental health, and increase economic mobility. The Home Ownership Center, within MCRA, is able to provide one-on-one counseling, financial counseling, and homeownership because of the support we receive from LHC. Buying a home should not be overwhelming, draining, or scary. We do our best to educate and prepare each client to be equipped to purchase their home and keep their home. No one should feel that homeownership is out of reach.
