White Light Night has been a staple of Mid City for 16 years. I myself have served Mid City as the Executive Director of Mid City Redevelopment Alliance for 12 years and have seen the event progress into what it is today. With 73 businesses and sponsors, 2018 is the biggest year yet for White Light Night.
On November 16, 2018, we will have a drone taking footage of the entire corridor for the first time. A local school will be developing a video to highlight the event by interviewing attendees and recording the exciting entertainment available. The Mid City Merchants Board Members will be visiting merchants throughout the night to learn more about supporting individual businesses. Artists are clamoring to show at the event this year as more businesses are sponsoring food, music and entertainment at their venues. With more in-kind media donations than ever, we expect record turnout.
New partnerships, increased support from the city and greater buy-in from residents, artists and change makers alike have made a difference, not just to this annual event, but in Mid City as a whole. The Government St road diet is well underway. New businesses like Rocca Pizzeria, Curbside, French Truck, White Star Market and Red Stick Social is a testament to the success of White Light Night in retaining and attracting residents and businesses. Mid City Redevelopment Alliance is incredibly excited about this growth and the opportunities it brings to everyone. We are proud to continue our focus on People. Places. Progress!
