The area identified by our organization as Mid City, is a region bounded by Choctaw Street to the north,I-10 to the south, Foster Drive to the east and I-110 to the west. It is a thousand-block region at the center of the city and diverse in socio-economics and race.

MCRA has a Target Neighood in which programs and energies are focused to affect meaningful development. The Target Neighborhood is centered around Baton Rouge General Medical Center- Mid City campus, an anchor of the community for more than sixty years, and an employer with a staff of 3000+ personel. To improve the Target Neighborhood, MCRA has been active in cleaning up this area, repairing and painting homes, coodinating community festivals and building 20 new homes directly across from the hospital. Simultaneously, MCRA has been teaching people within and outside of the Target Area, how to buy their first home through our Home Ownership Center
